Telegraaf Media Group takes step towards online television proposition
Tomorrow De Telegraaf introduces a new Apple TV app that provides access to (part of) the online video content of the various brands in De Telegraaf Media Group (TMG). The app can also be used to view around fourty Telesport Today The road to Rio episodes in the run-up to the Olympic Games. This latest step is consistent with the plans announced earlier by TMG to introduce a fully-fledged online television proposition in the areas of news and sport.
From tomorrow, De Telegraaf Apple TV app can be downloaded from the App store; the app includes content from, among others, De Telegraaf, Telesport, Vrouw, Privé, Autovisie and DFT. The app is updated continuously with the latest news, and the videos can be viewed at any chosen moment. To make the app accessible to everybody, De Telegraaf has announced a special Apple TV offer: De Telegraaf subscribers will receive a € 30 discount through the De Telegraaf website when they purchase an Apple TV (4th generation).
From word to image
The experience that is gained now will be used to optimally configure the future platform for the online television proposition later. That is ultimately aimed at realising the acceleration that TMG wants to see in the progression ‘from word to image’. By means of a fully-fledged online television channel, TMG wants to make content from the various brands accessible to consumers – where, when and however the consumers want it. De Telegraaf and Dumpert have been providing increasing amounts of online video content for some time, and this is now generating around 190 million video views per month on desktops and laptops, tablets and smartphones. The launch of this De Telegraaf Apple TV app is the first step towards the fully-fledged online television proposition announced earlier. The full programme schedule and the expected go-live date will be revealed in early October during the TMG 24/7 event.
