NMa stops investigation about possible price-fixing in Dutch advertising market

Today the Nederlandse Mededingingsautoriteit (NMa - Netherlands Competition Authority) announced to end the investigation which was aimed at ascertaining whether price-fixing or discounting agreements have been made in the Dutch print media advertising market.

The investigation started in September 2006 at the Raad van Orde en Toezicht voor het Advertentiewezen (Board for the Advertising market), at the Nederlands Uitgeversverbond (Dutch Publishers Association) and at a number of publishers under which Uitgeversmaatschappij De Telegraaf B.V. company (UMT), whose publications include ‘De Telegraaf' newspaper. UMT is a part of TMG (Telegraaf Media Groep).

As stated in 2006 TMG was unaware of having violated the Competition Act and therefore awaited the outcome of the investigation with confidence. Today that point of view turned out to be right. Recently TMG has set up a so called compliance-programme to further anchor compliance with the Competition Act in the day-to-day business.
