Telegraaf Media Groep relieved after decision NMa

With satisfaction, Telegraaf Media Groep (TMG) has taken note of the decision of the Nederlandse Mededingingsautoriteit (NMa), the dutch competition authority, to remove earlier limitations which applied to the joint exploitation of the titles Dagblad De Limburger and the Limburgs Dagblad. The removal means that TMG no longer has to continue to guarantee the mutual editorial and commercial independence of both Limburg newspapers.

The decision of the NMa, which was signed yesterday afternoon (December 7) by the Management Board of the NMa, is the end of a complicated legal procedure which has continued for years. During this period, the positions of the NMa and Telegraaf Media Groep, which differed initially, increasingly grew towards one another, partly because of the significantly changed economic circumstances for newspaper publishers in the Netherlands.

In the coming weeks, the consequences of the decision of the NMa will be discussed with Media Groep Limburg, where Dagblad De Limburger and the Limburgs Dagblad are published.
